 Cingular 2125 Phone Review:
The Cingular 2125 is one neat little baby with a windows mobile-based smartphone that runs on Windows Mobile 5.0, offers Bluetooth support, quad-band international roaming and support for EDGE and is packed with latest innovations to the Windows Mobile operating environment. A perfect accessory for corporate jet setters who love any one device that can to do everything.
High-speed e-mail and web browsing enables you to quickly access your corporate and personal e-mail in real-time with a whole host of built-in applications like Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile and Microsoft Exchange Server, GoodLink, Cingular Xpress Mail and MSN Hotmail at your fingertips.

This little smartphone packs a lot of features into its compact form, including a 1.3-megapixel camera, a speakerphone, Bluetooth and EDGE support and Windows Mobile 5and an outstanding battery life. It’s the absolutely perfect assistant for you all you traveling professionals. Natty, smart and very 'corporate' this little number will totally jazz up your look and professional life.
In terms of form, the Cingular 2125 is all about being compact at 4.3 by 1.8 by 0.7 inches and as light as 3.7 ounces. It’s slim and ultra sleek to hold. Its candy bar-style is a big point for jet setters because it eliminates the need to carry additional devices. And all this under a sleek good looking exterior just makes it all the more desirable. The only hitch in the design philosophy that this phone carries is the queer power button. The button doesn't operate in the usual push-and-operate mode and has to be pushed in and pulled out in order to proceed. A disturbing little factor especially in this day and age of standardized methods. With a dazzling display window that produces crisp and sharp images and text, this 2125 is a winner in the first impression department. And the spacious layout of the key pad is an added bonus that only those who have had to make the compromise in other SDA phones. The keypad is very responsive. A familiar button layout is convenient for most cell phone owners. There seem to be fewer number of buttons overall, which means that certain buttons have double functions. A good reading of the manual should keep you in good stead while operating the phone.
Expandable memory is always good news for those of us that live a fair share of our lives dependent on a machine but imagine it being located behind the battery. Every time you need to access it you have to remove the cell pack each time you want to access it, and it accepts only Mini SD cards. Somewhat inconvenient, don’t you think?
The Cingular 2125 facilitates a rich multimedia experience. You can enjoy groovy music and videos thanks to its integrated multimedia suite with Windows Media Player 10 Mobile, stereo headset jack, and 1.3 megapixel camera. The device supports multiple audio formats including MP3, AMR, AAC, WAV and WMA, as well as MPEG-4 video streaming.
The 1.3-megapixel camera with its multiple editing options includes four quality settings (Basic, Normal, Fine, and Super-Fine) and four resolutions (160x120, 320x240, 640x480, and 1,280x1, 024). Features like a 2X zoom, brightness controls, a time- and date-stamp option, and a photo counter jazz up the functionality of the phone and this number does a great job in the night setting producing great results. The camera also includes a whole host of other lighting choices including Auto, Daylight, Incandescent, and Fluorescent. The camera also allows for you to discover the avid film fan in you with phone's camera's ability to record video clips with sound in MPEG-4, H.263, or Motion-JPEG AVI format, and offer two resolutions (176x144 or 128x96).

The Cingular 2125 is a quad band GSM phone that will work anywhere in the world GSM service is available and is just another luxury that this phone affords you. With an excellent build quality that's par for the course on an HTC device this phone does not have you counting pennies if it was dropped four feet to a hardwood floor. It is rugged, user-friendly with the exception of the power button and extremely portable.
The phone syncs easily to MS Outlook on Windows desktops using the USB cable that's included in the box and it goes on further and does a great job of handling email including Exchange, and has a web browser that beats non-smartphone competitors a run for their money. But despite all the obvious advantages the phone lacks sorely in one department and that's the absence of wi-fi - a factor that can prove to be a quite a handicap when you are living out of a suitcase and frequenting coffee houses across the world.
The stunning QVGA display is perfect not only for web browsing but photo and document viewing. Mediocre call quality, the absence of integrated Wi-Fi and the presence of a quirky power button make this smart phone a lot less smart than it started out with… and it does add to your woes if you have to deal with the cumbersome placement of the Mini SD card expansion slot behind the battery.
The 2125 is acutely deficient in memory, at least if you intend to install any number of applications and this is where the mini SD card comes in handy but with the mini SD slot being under the battery, you don't have any real expansion options on the 2125 other than additional memory. None of the other expensive mini SD add-ons would fit.
The 2125 offers a USB cable and USB mini charger instead of the usual desktop charger. But the mini charger does have an upside and that is that any mini-USB cable will also serve as a sync-and-charge cable. And as long as you have a cable, any USB port is a charger which translates to power anywhere and everywhere. Now that’s a thought to make anyone’s day
The 2125 is outfitted to connect to almost any Bluetooth device. And adds to your convenience by facilitating the voice-dial of any number in your speed-dial over a Bluetooth headset or hands-free system, without needing to train the device to recognize you. It makes you wonder about what the next little trick this phone will have to impress you, doesn’t it? Affordability and converged high-speed access to the net provides us with outstanding connectivity and the ability to increase productivity with the double-edged advantage of Windows Mobile 5.0.The Cingular 2125 is adequate for applications that don't require too much. Its obvious deficiencies compared to the more luxuriant features found in other smart phones is possibly a sacrifice made in the direction of achieving its small body weight and size. But it does stand well in the niche it offers starting from a great battery life, a practical software assortment, and solid communications performance, all in a rugged and stylish exterior. The Cingular makes an excellent complement to a more capable handheld or laptop, if you didn't want to drag your other devices everywhere. All in all if you walk into the store conscious of the obvious deficiencies of this phone that make way for its compact, user friendly state then you shall walk out happier. An overall 7/10 the Cingular 2125 with its windows enabled functions is a decent deal given its extreme affordability and above average usability. Final word on the cingular device is that its affordability makes it the perfect accessory to carry along on cross country seminars and its sleek design with grayish blue tints makes this drool worthy amongst your colleagues. The phone is a businessman’s basic design download and it doesn’t leave you stranded anywhere on account of its brilliant battery life and a decent set of features that should have the basics of business covered. Yes it’s a step back from the Motorola Q’s and the Blackberry’s of the mobile industry but it does have a huge advantage of price and functionality.
