AT&T Phones: Cool Tools
Cool tools are applications which are available with all AT&T phones with multimedia capabilities. They simultaneously serve purposes of utility and entertainment and help convert a simple multimedia phone into a multi-functional device like a productivity management tool, a problem-solving tool, a research tool and the most important of all - a personal assistant tool.
Cool tools can be downloaded and replaced any number of times depending on the phone's capabilities. A compatible chart of all the models with different cool tools is available on AT&T's website. The simplest way to check what applications are available for a specific wireless phone model is to check the cool tools directory. To find out the model number of the phone, remove the battery cover from the phone after switching the phone off and read the label. The label usually mentions the model of the phone.
AT&T cool tools are cell phone specific and non-transferable. They need to be repurchased every time a user replaces or upgrades his phone with another one.
Cool tools are charged to a user either as a monthly fee or a single charge for downloading the application. Also, the download will be charged either by per kilobyte or per minute of download.
All downloads are charged using DirectBill and show up on the regular AT&T phone bill. Users need to be careful not to replace or delete the application from the phone as there are no refunds available.
Cool tools can be bought directly off the phone. On a compatible phone with AT&T service, log on to the media mall and get into the 'cool tools' menu. Once a cool tool is selected to be downloaded, it will be sent to the phone and the charges will be added to the regular phone bill.
Once the cool tools arrive on any AT&T phone, it will give you options to either view, save or discard the application. Though most of the times the cool tool should arrive immediately on the phone, sometimes system glitches may cause it to be delayed a bit. If, after selection, a cool tool does not arrive on the phone even after 30 minutes, the user should verify information regarding the compatibility of the phone with the requested application, verify if he has subscribed to Media Net or Media Bundle and of course, whether the user is a AT&T Wireless customer at all.
