The Push to talk facility on Cingular Phones
Remember those movies in which the policemen or the search squad holding those walkie takies, pushing just one button and making calls to its team out there in the distance? In today’s mobile world, haven’t you wished you could have had the same facility of a push button calls instead of going through the rigmarole of going to the menu, finding a number and making calls?
Now, here’s a service for those who wished so. The push to talk service from Cingular wireless is meant to provide that service and much more. This service allows you to eliminate the dialing and ringing and instantly reach others (one person or a group) in a regular cellular call with a push of a button.
Push to talk is an add-on feature to your regular voice plan. You can purchase the push to talk minutes from two plans:
1. Nation Plans for $9.99 per month per line
2. FamilyTalk for $19.99 a month per group (2 to 5 lines).
To make calls, you have to purchase regular plans and can be used to call phones, which are Push to Talk capable in a specified network coverage area.
When you use this service, you will not be charged by your mobile cellular service for the calls you make to other Cingular Phones, but if you use this service by converting this service to cellular then the minutes will be counted and you will be charged by the mobile service.
The rest of the services that you get are the same as that of the mobile services and no, you don’t need any other Cingular Phones with PTT for this service. Your present handset is perfect.
You can store 99 contacts and up to 30 pre-set groups with up to 20 total members in each group. You can create your own group, and also assign a Quick group tag and make impromptu call to the group.
