NEXTEL INTERNATIONAL WALKIE-TALKIE:
The International walkie-talkie is a service by Nextel to connect to mobile phone users across the US and five other countries like Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Mexico and Peru. Nextel International walkie-talkie plans do not have the hassle of calling cards or operators and cost much lower than international calling rates.
Requirements:
Almost all current models of Nextel Cell Phones are compatible with the walkie-talkie service and if a user’s mobile phone is compatible with Nextel walkie-talkie service, it automatically will have the international walkie-talkie service as well
Any rate plan that has walkie-talkie minutes will be required. Some mobile phone models that do not support international walkie-talkie service are b470, b370, c370, c280, i370, 390, i600, m370, r370 and r470, L3000, c280, m470, m100.
The charges for Nextel international walkie-talkie service are $0.20 per minute or an unlimited option of $10 per month.
International walkie-talkie calls can be made between the US and iDEN customers in all the allied countries. Also users can use the service while traveling to those countries and can even make local walkie-talkie calls in those countries. Also, it is possible to call back to the US from those countries. All these calls will be included in the international walkie-talkie minutes as a part of the corresponding plan that the user is a part of.
The user need not call any separate number to make an international walkie-talkie call but the Nextel walkie-talkie nationwide number which acts as the default walkie-talkie number should suffice. Similarly there are no special dialing requirements to make an international walkie-talkie call.
The charges for all international walkie-talkie calls are rounded to the nearest second and the minutes consumed will be deducted from the monthly allotment of walkie-talkie minutes unless the user is on an unlimited walkie-talkie plan. The user’s Nextel Phone account is charged only if the user initiates the call. Also the user presses the walkie-talkie button after 6 minutes of silence, then he/she is considered the initiator of the new call and will be charged for it appropriately. Fortunately, the call alerts sent to another walkie-talkie number, to make the recipient aware about the intention to be initiated into a call, is not charged.
For a certain time period as a promotional offer, all international web and messaging service as a part of the international plan is free of cost but later the messaging service will be charged at $0.03 per KB in additional to monthly usage. Also regular text messaging fees shall be charged in addition to the international usage fees that are applicable for messaging in international locations.
