Nextel Cell Phone To Landline Messaging Service
NEXTEL CELL PHONE TO LANDLINE MESSAGING SERVICE:
Sprint Nextel Text to Landline Messaging is a service that allows a Nextel Cell Phone user to send text message to any landline in the US, US Virgin islands and Puerto Rico which will be converted to voice and communicated on the landline. It is as simple as sending a text message from a Nextel mobile phone since this also requires the user to send only a text message to a ten-digit landline phone number instead of a mobile number. This service is available for all Sprint Nextel mobile phone subscribers and this service can be initiated from any text messaging-compatible phone.
Before this service can be used for the first time, the Nextel user will receive a message notifying that the intended recipient for the message is a landline phone number. This message is converted into a voice message will reach the recipient’s phone as a voice call and the landline phone will ring. When the recipient answers the phone, the voice message will be read out to them verbatim.
The message system will attempt to reach the destination landline number by ringing for 40 seconds. In case the recipient is not available when the call comes through, the voice message will be stored as a voice mail in the landline phone’s answering machine (This is subject to the fact that the recipient landline must have a compatible answering machine service). So, whenever the recipient gets back, the message will read out as a part of their answering machine service. The recipient can also leave a message back for the Nextel user.
The service also features an alert where the Nextel user will be notified through a text message if the landline phone has received the message and whether the recipient has replied with any message. The message that is sent back to the next user will be indicated by a text message alert on the user’s mobile phone. The user can listen to the reply message by either choosing the option TALK or by calling back the indicated number.
In case the recipient is busy on another call or does not have an answering machine, this service will make two redial attempts. The first attempt will take place five minutes after the first call and the second one, fifteen minutes after the first attempt. If both redial attempts fail, the message will be dropped and the originator will receive a message conveying the inability to deliver the message.
For the Nextel Phone user, this service charges the rate of a regular text message. If you call back with the reply number, then it will treated as a regular call and hence standard call rates will be applicable. This service, though currently available only in the United States, Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands, will soon be available to other international locations as well. All callback voice messages will be preserved in the system for five days after which the message will be deleted.
In case a user does not receive the opt-in message when a text to landline message is sent, it is possible that the message has been sent to a mobile phone number by mistake, in which case the message will be received as a text message only and not as a voice message. But in case there is a genuine problem, it can be queried via email at the telemessage website.
