Nextel’s Multimedia messaging is all about sending pictures, adding text or sending a voicemail to another mobile phone which is also specifically enabled for multimedia messaging. This exclusive service from Nextel helps a user impulsively capture images of unexpected moments in life as well as record events and share them with someone many miles away.
Nextel multimedia messaging service has many benefits in the business domain. It can be primarily used by colleagues at work to share images and memos and receive immediate feedback through similar multimedia. In the real estate industry, multimedia messaging allows sellers to send immediate pictures of any new property that might have hit the market. Buyers can also voice their immediate comments without visiting the property. In a lot of other industries including construction, it is possible to settle disputes with recorded images and audio. The Insurance industry can be greatly benefited by claim processing which can speed up by incorporating a picture of the damage immediately.
Nextel multimedia messaging is now compatible with several carriers in the US and Canada and this has increased the scope of actively interacting with more friends and family across the continent. In addition to a multimedia-enabled phone, a Nextel Cell Phone user will require Nextel data service rate plan to activate this service. Pricing is at $15 per month for unlimited messages. There is also another plan which is a pay-per-usage rate of $0.25 per picture or audio sent to another mobile phone and $0.10 per audio message sent. By default, all Nextel mobile phones are subscribed to the pay-per-use plan.
Using this service, it is possible to listen to audio recordings within a message. This will be possible by opening the audio file which is an attachment to the message. ‘Quick Notes’ are a facility which helps a user to insert readily-made words and phrases into a message. ‘Quick Notes’ can be accessed from the lower left corner of the “Create message” menu.
It is also possible to call or send an alert to a Nextel walkie-talkie number which is contained in a multimedia message. Though text messages can be sent to any number in the country, it is not possible to send images and audio messages to other phones due to the lack of inter-carrier operability in the United States. In case a person does not have a multimedia-compatible mobile phone and if a Nextel Phone user sends an audio or video message to that phone then the recipient will receive a link on their mobile phone which can be forwarded to any email id and the multimedia message can be accessed on the internet from a computer.
The total content limit of each multimedia message can be upto a 100 KB including the images, audio files and any other content. File sizes are primarily determined by format and length of the content.
A copy of all the messages can be accessed on sprint website for up to a week but if the messages are required to be preserved for a longer time, then under preferences, the selection of “Do not delete messages after I receive on phone” must be activated. This will ensure that the messages are preserved.
