Samsung A900 Sprint Cell Phone Review
This flip phone from Samsung has been popularly compared with the MOTORAZR and is thicker and heavier than the former by mere 0.2 inches and 0.2 ounces and we will soon know if people prefer this phone which is being marketed as a step-up over MOTOROLAs most famous model and rightly being called the BLADE phone. One of the biggest strengths of the phone is its ability to perform most of the media functions with the flip closed: be it activating the speakerphone, video display or navigating through the music player.
The reception and sound quality does not disappoint but is not anything better than all the other Samsung phones. Also the EV-DO technology makes sure that mobile phone browsing is no longer at snails pace with speeds upto 1 MBps and throw in the live streaming TV experience and what you have is a multimedia powerhouse of a phone.
The major drawback in the phone is quite a surprise for all mobile phone aficionados as they would wonder how a phone with such pumped-up multimedia capabilities has no expandable memory and the 50MB internal memory would run out in no time give the amount of video and music one can download on to the phone. Overall, a phone for the fashion-conscious who can now look at an option beyond the MOTORAZR.
How to understand control your roaming experience in a Samsung A900 Sprint Power Vision phone?
Roaming is defined as the ability to make or take calls on your cell phone when you are not in your parent network, in this case, the SPRINT PCS Network. The Samsung A900 works on all SPRINT PCS Networks across the country and also on other 800 Mhz and 1900 Mhz networks with which SPRINT PCS has an exclusive roaming arrangement.
Understanding Roaming:
Whenever you are roaming in any network other than your home network, your phone will indicate your roaming status by displaying an R on the display screen. Whenever you are roaming on a Digital quality network, the quality of making and receiving calls will be very similar to the quality you experience in any SPRINT PCS Network. But access might be denied to features like SPRINT PCS Vision or Samsung Cell Phones Power Vision.
Checking for voicemails while roaming:
Unlike on-phone messages that instantly receive when a voicemail is available for you, while roaming you need to periodically check for new voicemail messages. This however does not hinder any caller from leaving a voicemail message for you.
While roaming, to check voice messages, you will need to type in the number 1 followed by the area code and your phone number. You will be greeted by the voicemail greeting and also prompted for your password.
However, once back in your home network, voicemail notifications will resume. 
Setting the Roam Mode of the phone:
The roaming capabilities and settings of your phone can be controlled by getting into the SET MODE option in the ROAMING menu. There are three options that can be set
Automatic This will preferentially choose a SPRINT PCS Network and in the absence of a SPRINT Network choose an alternate one.
Roaming only switches the phone to be in the roaming mode all the time
Sprint Chooses only SPRINT networks across the nation and disallows roaming on other networks.
Using Call Guard:
CALL GUARD is a function of alerting the user if he/she is roaming in any network other than the national SPRINT PCS Network. To activate CALL GUARD option, select CALL GUARD from the ROAMING menu. Once selected, when you call a number, you need to press the #1 key after dialing a number and pressing TALK and also press #1 after TALK while answering a call in a roaming network
How to use the Built-In camera in a Samsung A900?
The built-in camera of the Samsung A900 Sprint Vision phone has the capability to take digital images in full color, see the pictures and share them immediately with all friends and family. Its as easy in operation as a modern-day digital camera and you need to waste no time in sending anything that you have shot to upto 10 people.
There are two ways to activate the camera on the phone when it is open, get into the CAMERA option in the PICTURES menu. Now use the LCD display screen to frame the subject of shoot. You can use the volume key at this point to see if you require shooting the object right side up or upside down.
Now press the left soft key below the screen to capture the picture. It will be automatically saved in a folder in the phone.
Pressing the NEXT soft key brings up options of performing a variety of interesting functions with the image:
SEND MSG lets you send the image to a maximum of 10 contacts
CAMERA MODE lets you return to take another pic.
UPLOAD lets you upload the image taken on to the SPRINT PCS website
ASSIGN lets you use the image for an incoming call, a picture id or a screensaver
ORDER PRINTS lets you order a printed version of the image on your phone
POST TO SERVICE lets you post the picture to a third party online location
POSTCARD lets you merge the image you have saved on your phone with the picture of a hand written note and to give the effects of a real post-card
Some of the options available to a user while in the CAMERA MODE are:
FLASH lets you operate the flash settings
SELF-TIMER lets you activate the timer to take a picture after a time delay
FUN TOOLS lets you modify the picture with FUN FRAMES and COLOR TONES
CONTROLS which lets you modify BRIGHTNESS and WHITE BALANCE settings
SETTINGS lets you modify Shutter sound, Resolution and Quality 
How to use the Bluetooth Wireless options in a Samsung A900?
The SPRINT POWER VISION Samsung A900 lets you share information wirelessly using the Bluetooth technology. Bluetooth communication will work effectively upto 30 feet.
Bluetooth in your phone can be turned ON or OFF by selecting ENABLE in the BLUETOOH menu of SETTINGS. IF the Bluetooth is enabled and transferring data, the Bluetooth symbol on the display screen will be a bright blue in color, else if Bluetooth is merely active, the symbol will be black in color. Once enabled, pressing the UP and DOWN navigation buttons, you can select OFF to deactivate Bluetooth in your phone
You can change / modify the name of your phone which will be visible to other phones in a Bluetooth network when in a particular area. This can be achieved by entering the name after selecting DEVICE NAME in the BLUETOOTH menu. Once the new name is entered, press OK to save the name and exit.
The VISIBILITY settings let you manage the availability of your phone to other Bluetooth devices in the area. There are three options to choose from:
o ALWAYS VISIBLE lets your phone to be visible all the time to other Bluetooth devices in the area
o VISIBLE FOR 3MINS allows your phone to be detected for 3 minutes before its status turns to hidden again.
o HIDDEN lets you phone to remain invisible to other Bluetooth devices in the area
PAIRING allows your phone to be connected to another Bluetooth device to transfer data to that device. To discover other devices in a particular area, you need to select the SEARCH option in the ADD NEW sub-menu of the BLUETOOTH menu. Once all other Bluetooth devices in the area are visible, scroll down to choose the one you want your phone to be paired with and press the CONNECT options after entering the PASSKEY. If the connection is complete, it will display CONNECTION SUCCESSFUL.
Similarly to receive information from another Bluetooth device in an area, go to the same ADD NEW sub-menu and choose the WAIT FOR REQUEST option. Once another device connects with your phone, enter the PASSKEY which will be prompted and the connection will be established. 
What are the Multimedia channel options in a Samsung A900 Sprint Vision phone?
The Samsung A900s in-built media player lets you to listen to audio clips and view video files from the phones display screen itself and this also acts like a basic cable TV on your phone. SPRINT TV offers a wide option of audio and video channels across varied subjects depending on the multimedia subscription plan that you have opted for. The options you can access are:
PREVIEW CHANNEL lets you sample some clips for free from all the existing channels for you to decide which ones you may want to subscribe to. Its somewhat like a movie preview or trailer.
SPRINT TV is the option that lets you access content across all the channels that are a part of the SPRINT network and will be available to you for a basic monthly subscription fee.
AVAILABLE INDIVIDUAL CHANNEL OPTIONS lets you access specific channels of which you might want to view content and this too will be available for a monthly fee.
CHANNEL LISTING lets you view all the complementary preview channels that are available in the network as well as the channels for which you pay a monthly subscription fee.
PLAYLIST lets you view a list of channels available in the network but which are not yet purchased. To purchase one of these channels, follow the on-screen instructions. Once purchased, it will be listed along with other channels in the MY CHANNELS menu.
