Samsung D807 Cingular Cell Phone

Samsung D807 Cingular Cell Phone

The Samsung D807 is a latest feature-rich slider phone from Samsung which will impress the design-conscious as well as the gadget nerds.

The stunning menu animations and the GUI are quite classy and the four-way circular navigation button makes this phone quite user-friendly. Yes, the slithery and uncomfortable buttons make you feel unsure but then coming from Samsung's stable of the world's thinnest phones, it is a small price to pay for design elegance.

Also, it is fairly easy to get used to the new keys with time. The camera, a 1.3 Mega pixel one, is loaded with features to play around with the images captured on it, though a flash is sorely missed for such a high-end model. A fully packed organizer, a variety of instant messaging options (AOL, ICQ, MSN and YAHOO), EDGE for GPRS and mobile email make it one of the better phones when it comes to internet connectivity options. Average battery life, an expandable slot but lack of an external microSD memory card and tacky keypad spoil an otherwise killer of a phone. Overall, one of the best phones to come out of the Samsung stable but leaves you feeling that you could have had a little more.

How to use VoiceSignal in a D807?

1. Voice signal can be accessed in the APPLICATIONS menu of the MY STUFF menu
2. Once inside the voice signal menu, it displays "SAY A COMMAND" with the options in the screen below
3. The voice signal can be used to

a. Call up a name or number
1. On being prompted "Say a command" say "call" followed by the name of the person in the phone book and optionally the details of the number location (home, mobile, work). If it is a new number say "call" followed by the number itself. For e.g. say "Call Tom at Mobile" or "Call 9845321345"
2. While saying either the name or the telephone number, it is important to speak clearly and legibly. Also the phone understands only individual digits. So, the phone will not recognize a "call one six hundred" but it will recognize "call one six zero zero"

b. Send a message
1. To send a message once the "Say a command" is prompted, speak "send text" followed by name or number. E.g. "send text Aston keel" or "send text to 9892877623
2. If number or name is not specified, VoiceSignal prompts you with "Say name or number" then you can fill in with either a number or a name from the phone book ( first name precedes the last name)
3. If there are more than one label (like home, mobile, work, etc) against one name then the label can be mentioned after the name. For e.g. say "Send text Steve at Work"

c. Open an application
1. To open an application once "Say a command" is prompted, wait for a beep before you say "Go to" followed by the application or menu item that requires to be opened. For e.g. say "Go to calendar"
2. If you want to view a list of "Go to" destinations, just say "Go to" without a destination name and it will show the list of menus or applications. This will be followed by a "Please choose" prompt and you can say the application name.

d. Look up a contact
1. Once prompted, say "Look up" followed by the name of the person in the phone book. E.g. "Look up Mark"
2. If there is more than one contact under single name, the phone will prompt you with "Did you say look up?" followed by each option. If you find the right one, then wait for a beep from the phone before saying "Yes"
