Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 - Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Tablet

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 will be available in two different sizes, a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 inch (8GB / 16GB / 32GB) and a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 inch (16GB / 32GB). Both of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Android Ice Cream Sandwich tablets have some downgraded features (both have a slower processor down from 1.2 GHZ to 1 GHZ / VGA front camera down from a 2.0MP front camera) from their predecessors but run on the latest Android platform, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 inch is expected to be released this month and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 inch in May 2012.

Let's go over the common features found on both Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 inch and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 inch. You can find a 1GHZ dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, Bluetooth version 3.0, HSPA+ 21Mbps 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 network compatibility, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, aGPS, Glonass, Digital compass, support for up to 32GB microSD cards, Accelerometer, Light sensor, Proximity sensor, USB 2.0 Host, Music Player with SoundAlive, 3.5mm Ear Jack, 3 megapixel rear camera / camcorder, VGA front camera and HD 30 frames per second playback and recording.

The apps included on the two versions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 include the Samsung TouchWiz user interface, Samsung L!ve Panel, Samsung Hub, Samsung Hub Widget, Samsung ChatON (multimedia messaging), Samsung All Share Play (transfer to DLNA compatible HDTVs), Samsung S Suggest, Samsung Kies, Voice calls, Samsung Kies air and Polaris document editor. Of course you have Google Mobile Services (Google Search / Google Maps / Gmail / Google Play (Android Market) / Google Calendar and Sync / Google+ (Hangout / video calls) / YouTube).

If you don't know what the Samsung Hub includes, here's a breakdown - Game Hub, Readers Hub, Video Hub and Music Hub. You can easily get games, books, movies and music anywhere anytime. With Kies Air you can transfer your media and files via a web browser between your tablet and your desktop. Kies lets you securely edit and sync your contacts from Google, Yahoo! and MS Outlook. Additionally, you can create playlists, store photos and videos. Kies is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7 32bit and 64bit and for MAC OSx 10.5.8 to 10.7.2.

The differences between the two Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Android 4.0 Tablets are as follows. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 inch has a 7-inch WSVGA 1024 x 600 px resolution PLS TFT touch screen and is powered by a 4,000 mAh Li-ion battery, measures 7.6 in (H) x 4.8 in (W) x 0.4 in (D) and weighs 12.1 ounces, while the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 inch measures 10.1 in (H) x 6.9 in (W) x 0.38 in (D), weighs approximately 20.5 ounces and runs on a 7,000 mAh Li-ion battery.
