T-Mobile Sidekick 3 Cell Phone

T-Mobile Sidekick 3 Cell Phone Review:
The T-Mobile Sidekick 3 cell phone improves on the Sidekick II with a new design, a trackball, 1.3 Mega-pixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity, EDGE data and the addition of a MP3 player. The QWERTY keyboard has been redesigned. It now has separate buttons and is considered one of the better equipped IM and email friendly phones currently available.

This T-Mobile Phone can browse full HTML websites and supports AOL, MSN and Yahoo Email / messaging. You can bookmark pages, get email from other POP3 or IMAP accounts (up to 3), and send vCards. The Sidekick 3 is equipped with Bluetooth Wireless Technology 2.0 and features an expandable memory card slot that supports up to 2GB of mini-SD cards.

Main Features:

  • 240 x 160 px LCD 16 bit (65,536 colors)
  • 1.3 Mega-pixel camera (1280 x 1024)
  • MP3 player
  • HTML browser and AOL, MSN and Yahoo support
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • MiniSD flash memory
  • QWERTY keyboard and predictive text

  • The Sidekick 3 kept its predecessor’s rotating 240 x 160 px, 16-bit, LCD (If you haven’t used a Sidekick in the past, to open, gently with your thumb, press and nudge up the lower-left or push down on upper-right hand corner of the display in a clockwise direction). Once opened, you gain access to the improved spaced QWERTY keyboard. The D-Pad (directional pad) located on the left, functions similar to the trackball (located on the right). Above the D-Pad, you’ll find the Menu button that opens screen specific menus. The Jump button, found underneath the D-Pad, can be thought of as a home button that takes you to the starting point for all device applications.Sidekick 3

To the right of the device, the new trackball replaced the Sidekick II’s roller controller and glows different colors. When you press on the trackball it opens the selected item or opens a pop up menu. You have the option to adjust the horizontal and vertical speed of the trackball by entering Settings from the Jump Menu and selecting the Trackball option.Sidekick 3

Surrounding the trackball are the Send/End buttons that function as page up and page down when the phone is not in use. The Cancel button is located directly above and disregards changes made in a dialog box or a screen. Directly below the trackball, the Done button, navigates you back to previous screens or saves changes and exits a dialog box or screen.

On the top of the device, are right and left multi-function Shoulder buttons. When you are using the phone, the left button handles muting, while the right button turns the speakerphone on and off. In camera mode, the right shoulder button becomes the capture button.Sidekick 3

When writing Emails, you can add photos to attach by opening the photo album with the right shoulder button and with the left button you can open the voice recorder. The bottom right of the device hosts the Power button and a 2.5 mm stereo headset jack, and on the left you find the volume controls. The Power jack, strap holder and the 1.1 USB port are located on the right side of the device.Sidekick 3

The Sidekick 3’s user interface is easy to learn and use thanks to the navigation capabilities of the trackball. You can easily move between submenus and access all the phone’s functions with a single navigation control or button. Additionally, the Danger 3.0 OS is preprogrammed with shortcuts to allow you to quickly perform the desired task without having to navigate through all the menus.

For example to edit text that is highlighted, instead of accessing the Edit Text submenu for the copy or cut commands, you can simply use the shortcuts defined for them by pressing the following buttons simultaneously: Menu + C for the cut command and Menu + X for copy, pressing Menu + A selects all the text.

Here is a useful shortcut, to open the music player, press the Jump button together with the Done button and you instantly gain access to your songs. The player has all the common functions: play, pause, previous and skip with the addition of a scrubber bar allowing you to play a specific area of the track. The 2.5mm headset jack allows for the use of hands-free devices and provides stereo sound.

The personal information manager includes a calendar that displays appointments by daily, weekly, monthly and upcoming views. It also includes to do list and notes applications. T-Mobile keeps all the information synchronized through the Sidekick Desktop Interface web page and can be edited on the web using a computer.

You can use the Intellisync application and sync your Address Book, Calendar and To Do items with Microsoft Outlook. Follow the instructions from the Sync tab found in Settings menu and you will be guided for the downloading of the application. The address book allows storage of up to 2000 contacts with an assignable photo caller ID icon for each. An Address Book record contains contact fields for multiple phone numbers, addresses for email, IM, web and street. You can even include birthday, Company name and title, and notes. You can add software, wallpapers and screensavers, games and ringtones using the Catalogue application. This T-Mobile Cell Phone ensures that you are always accessible via the Internet and through the phone.
