Packed with a whole load of incredible features, the W300i promises quality listening experience for the discerning music lover. A small and neat design that resembles a clamshell, this music phone gives you top-of-the-line walkman music experience. And it goes beyond giving you no reason to complain on its functionality. A 265 MB storage memory stick- excellent! a USB cable to connect to a PC, Disc2Phone music management software and the FM radio just mean quality entertainment all day long.
It covers the entire gamut of simple yet essential features in a phone ranging from simple phone calls and text messages, built-in camera to PC connectivity, making it a true star both in terms of functionality and entertainment value.
A sparkling clear 262,144 color TFT screen gives its users optimal image viewing be it while surfing the web, or viewing pictures that you take in its easy to use camera. The phone automatically renders full web pages to suit your screen leading to effortless surfing.
The simple and easy to use camera operates beautifully and seamlessly, leaving very little to complain about. A WGA camera that allows for clear pictures - all you’ve got to do is aim and click and if need be zoom in using the 4X zoom. You can transfer your latest music and pictures between your PC and the phone using the USB connect cable or just use the Bluetooth and you are ready to go.
Designed to fit perfectly in the palm of your hand, its clamshell body is sleek and very urban. After all, it’s been designed to please its customers with large and easy to maneuver buttons. The Sony W300i boasts of a very logical layout. No fumbling or fidgeting to figure this one out.
And just like any good flip phone worth its salt, the Sony W300i has a small screen on the flip open that enables you to keep a check on the song playing, the incoming calls and lots more. Press the side key along the side of the Sony W300i’s body and obtain data on the external display ranging to events scheduled for the day taken from the organizer. The external screen also displays important information pertaining to the media player: containing track title, artist, and scroll bar and if you’re listening to the radio then you can keep a check on the radio station’s title too.
The device uses a Lithium-Polymeric battery with the capacity of 900 mAh and provides ample battery life despite the extensive features that the phone offers. While the display is a knockout stunner, the navigation controls and keypad buttons do seem a bit cumbersome at times. The five way toggle is too large and is often more of an impediment because its buttons are flush with the surface of the phone making it slightly difficult to adjust to.
The flat keypad buttons, while large, do overlap and are flat with the surface of the phone which can lead to a few embarrassing misdials; and don’t quite lend to super quick messaging as you would want to. The W300i has a 1,000-contact phone book that allows for an entry for five phone numbers, e-mail and web addresses, business and home street addresses, a birthday date, and notes. The phone allows you to get all organized with its plethora of services starting from functions that allow you to organize contacts into groups and pair them with a photo for caller ID or simply assign them one of 28 (40-chord) polyphonic ring tones. Other features include a vibrate mode, text and multimedia messaging, voice dialing, a calendar, a task list, a notepad, a calculator, a timer, a stopwatch, and a code memo for storing passwords and other secure information.
Loaded with a couple of business-friendly features, this ‘music’ phone does pack in a few surprises. A speakerphone, PC syncing for contacts and calendar appointments, a newsreader for accessing RSS feeds, USB cable support, and full Bluetooth that facilitates not only the headset connection to a headset but also for wirelessly exchanging files and electronic business cards.

The Sony W300i is any music buffs dream come true with an action packed walkman kit, a groovy set of stereo headsets and hassle free software that lets you set up your own play lists. You can shuffle and loop through your play list and keep rocking the day away. And if you want to spread the love all you got to do is connect up the portable speakers or to a home audio system and party on. The phones music mode features allow you to even use the phones walkman on flights as the radio transmitter shuts off and doesn’t disrupt. The W300i's Walkman music player supports a broad range of formats, including MP3, MP4, 3GP, AAC, and WAV files and opening the player takes you directly to the main menu. Once in the main menu you can organize your favorite music by artist, track name, or play lists.
While it’s obvious that this phone cannot realistically replace your MP3 player, it sure can match up to it. This little rock star includes features such as album/song shuffle and loop, Sony's Mega Bass, and an equalizer. And incase you were wondering switching between the cell phone and the music player is seamless because the music automatically stops when you receive a call and resumes as soon as you hang up and press the dedicated music key picking up from where you left it. Now isn’t that thoughtful.
The overall call quality is good and displays remarkable clarity and volume and gives no interference or trouble in getting signal. The speakerphones do seem a let down as the voices echo but in totality the Sony W300i scores well on the call quality. That coupled with a decent battery life that includes 5 hours of talk time and 10 days of standby, the W300i is one of very few phones that scores full marks in the battery life department. This, in addition to the fact that it can play back music for up to 15 hours straight in its MP3 only mode. Truly satisfying!
The Sony W300i is the perfect accessory on a walk to the grocery or a drive down to the beach. Available in exciting colors, this number can dazzle everybody and is sure to attract attention. The Sony W300i also scores high on the to-be purchased list because of its affordability. Great music, excellent communication, super sound, large keys and a decent looking body all make this phone a must have as an accessory to college, the party and more. While it does also offer some genuine business friendly features, the Sony W300i is more of a college fresher’s companion, for savvy teens and for the music lovers out there. It’s a must have phone to have fun with!
