SPRINT PCS MUSIC:

Sprint converts a phone with music capabilities into a personal music jukebox offering a variety of audio channels which can be played on the media player application in the mobile phone. So a user can play the kind of music he / she wants on the move, be it pop, rock, hip-hop or country. And in addition to the songs, news from the world of music and entertainment in the form of interviews and unplugged performances are available on Sprint PCS Phones.

The SPRINT Music store allows a user to buy and download music files which can be played from the media player on the phone or computer.

How to access the SPRINT Music store?

As long as the user is in the SPRINT PCS nationwide network, he can access the Sprint Music store through the main menu of the mobile phone. The first time a user is connected to the store, the site will prompt the user to register for a username with a password to personalize the store according to the interests of the user. To access the music store,
  1. First select MUSIC from the main menu
  2. Then the MUSIC option will lead the user to register a username and password. The username is the ten digit mobile number of the SPRINT network and the password can be a four digit number of the user’s choice
  3. Once registered, the user can use the navigation keys and the buttons on the keypad to browse through the music store.
How to purchase and download music?

Once in the store, a user can buy and download music on to the memory in the Sprint PCS Cell Phone or an external memory storage device on the phone like an SD card, a miniSD card or a TransFlash card.

  1. From the opening page of the music store, an option can be chosen to look and browse for music throughout the store.

    1. Search – allows a user to search for music among all the songs stored in the sore using search criteria of the appropriate information of either the artist or the album.
    2. Categories - can let a user browse through the various selections grouped under heads like What’s Hot, Fresh Releases and from various genres
    3. Featured music – lets a user to look for songs among the Highlighted artist or album

  2. Once a song is identified through the above options, information about the song can be seen if OK is selected against the song and choose on the following options for the song

    1. PREVIEW – will let a user hear a small preview of the audio clip
    2. BUY SONG – is the option to purchase the song. Once this option is chosen, the song will be downloaded to the memory storage available, either internal or external (like an SD card, miniSD card or a TransFlash card). The service will alert the user in case the memory available on any of these storage devices is inadequate to download the entire song.
    3. Once downloaded, there are several options to play the song, make it part of an existing playlist or continue browsing the store for other songs. Also, the option to download the purchased song to the PC is available at http://musicstore.sprint.com.
How to play music from the SPRINT Music store?

In addition to giving access to a lot of great music, the SPRINT music store also doubles up as a great place to listen to the songs and organize them into a music library
  1. From the home page of the Sprint Music store, the navigation key will guide the user to the option called PLAYER
  2. Once in the PLAYER menu, one of the following options can be used:

    1. ALL MY MUSIC lets a user look through all the music that has been downloaded and stored on the phone
    2. PLAYLIST – allows the user to chose a customized playlist of songs available on the phone
    3. CREATE PLAYLIST – helps a user build a custom playlist according to an artist, album or any other classification the user might find good to personalize the songs

  3. Once the list of songs from any of the playlist is displayed, choose a specific song from the group and press PLAY to listen to that specific song. If in a playlist, all the songs in the playlist will be played beginning from the selected song.
How to back-up downloaded music files?

Whenever a song is downloaded and purchased from the SPRINT Music store, the song is available to the user in two formats: One is the AAC format which can used to play the audio file on the mobile phone and the other is the WMA format which can be used to play the song on the computer. The AAC files which are downloaded to the phone can be played only on the account from which it was purchased and cannot be downloaded without purchasing the song again.

So, it is recommended that all the AAC files should be backed up on the PC to avoid losing the files in the event of a damaged memory card or phone and incase it is required to install a new memory device in the phone.

To back up the audio files,
  1. The mobile handset should be connected to the computer using a USB cable or a Bluetooth connection.
  2. Browse the storage device on the phone to get to the folder on which the music files are stored on the phone
  3. Select the music files which should be transferred to the computer and copy them on to the hard disk of the computer
  4. Though the music files can be transferred to the computer, it can only be played from the phone after creating a folder called MUSIC in the mobile phone
How to access and purchase music channels from the Mobile phone?

Radio and Music channel content is available to be played through the media player of the mobile phone. And it is quite easy to access and purchase these channels from the phone.

To access the channels from the phone, MUSIC & RADIO option should be chosen from the CHANNEL LISTING option of the MUSIC PLAYER menu. The listing of channels on the phone is divided into two kinds:
  • AVAILABLE CHANNELS – These are channels that are available as a part of the service and can be subscribed by the user for a fixed monthly fee
  • MY CHANNELS – lists the channels that have been purchased and subscribed by the user on the mobile phone

New music channels can be purchased either directly from the phone’s media player facility or online from the internet at the sprint website.
  1. Choose the MUSIC & RADIO option from the CHANNEL LISTING option
  2. Select AVAILABLE CHANNELS to browse and select a required channel
  3. If the channel number is known, the number can be entered to directly take the user to that channel or the channels can be browsed from a list and once the desired channel is highlighted, it can be selected
  4. Now the phone will prompt the user and help him to preview, purchase and download the selected channel
How to access streaming music?

In addition to the music channels and the Sprint Music store, the service also has streaming music in the form of radio channels which can also be subscribed to for a monthly fee.

The RADIO is an option under the CHANNEL LISTINGS menu and the radio channels can be previewed by hearing a small clip of what’s in store in the channel and then can be purchased monthly using the BUY option. Once purchased, the service gives the user access to several stations which belts out various favorite genres of music or plays the latest in the world of music.

SIRIUS Music Channel

The SIRIUS music channel is a music channel which offers a fantastic variety of music which is free of advertisements and can be accessed directly from the mobile phone.

SIRIUS MUSIC can be accessed by selecting MUSIC & RADIO option under CHANNEL LISTINGS. PREVIEW will let a user listen to a sample of what SIRIUS MUSIC is all about whereas BUY option will require the user to purchase a monthly subscription to SORIUS MUSIC. Once purchased, SIRUS MUSIC offers a wide range of music:
  • Vinyl: Rock classics from the ’60s and ’70s.
