Sprint Samsung Upstage Cell Phone Review:
The Sprint Samsung Upstage introduces a new style for cell phones. Thinner than a Motorola Razr, the dual side phone features two screens each dedicated for specific functions. On one of the sides, you get a small 1.4 inch screen that provides a view of all cell phone functions. Here is where the dialing keypad is located. The other side of the Samsung M620 (Upstage), is the larger 2.1 inch LCD devoted to multimedia. This side sports a touchpad that controls its MP3 player and menu navigation.

Its main TFT screen is 176 x 220 px that displays 262,000 colors, while the smaller TFT phone screen is 176 x 65 px and displays 65,000 colors. The Samsung Upstage Sprint Cell Phone ships with a carrying case with an integrated extended battery (battery wallet) and provides easy access to either side of the phone.
The phone screen displays date and time, call status, signal and power levels. All of the menu options are available on the larger media screen. Here you can view all of the information of the smaller screen plus access menus. You can only use one screen at a time. By pressing the flip button, you can switch between screens. With Sprint TV, you can watch TV shows and music videos.
With microSD / TransFlash expandable memory support, you can listen to 2 GB worth of music. You can sign up with VoiceIndigo for free at there Web site and select from the vast amount of podcasts. All of your 176 x 144, 15 fps captured video and pictures from the 1.3 mega-pixel, 2x zoom digital camera / camcorder can be stored and transferred to your computer with a USB connection via the accessory interface connector port.
The volume controls located on the side of the phone and the play / pause button allow you to conveniently listen to your music. Use the media navigation pad to scroll through menus and your music list. The Sprint Music Manager application assists you in this process. When you first power up the Samsung Upstage, a tutorial is initiated that trains you on using the navigation pad.
Sprint Vision connects you to the Internet and lets you access email, instant messaging and enter chat rooms. The Samsung M620 has T9 text entry and a virtual keypad for composition. Sprint Power Vision allows you to access Sprint Music Store and download media to your phone. Screen savers, ringtones and games can be obtained through Sprint.
The Sprint Samsung Upstage is a Bluetooth version 2.0 cell phone. You can connect to other Bluetooth devices for handsfree operation. There are Bluetooth keyboards that can be the size of a credit card and make it even easier to type text.
You can store 500 entries with five numbers per name. The voice dialing features of the Samsung Upstage Sprint Phone include call initiation using a contact's name, nickname, or using adapting digit dial (digit recognition).
By saying "Send Email" and the corresponding contact name, you open the email message application. You can send text by saying "Send Text" and the name to open a text message window. You can look up names by saying "Lookup" and the name to search your contacts list.
The Scheduler helps you keep track of all your appointments. To view your events you begin by navigating to the Menu, Tools, Planner and selecting Scheduler. You can also access Today planner by following the same navigation, but instead of selecting the Scheduler, you select Today.
Additionally, you have a memo pad and is accessed by going to the Menu, then Tools, and selecting Memo Pad. The Samsung Upsatge can record voice memos and can be accessed by going to the Menu > Tools > Voice Memo.
For mass storage, Samsung provides file manager software and can be downloaded from the samsungwireless site. Also find in its arsenal, a Task list to keep you on track with your daily chores. You can set the task's priority level and the date and time it is due. The countdown feature lets you enter a timer that counts down to the specified completion date.
Dedicated displays, microSD / TransFlash expandable memory support, the latest in mobile entertainment capabilities, and Bluetooth wireless connectivity make the Samsung Upstage a heavy contender in the cell phone slim wars.
