VERIZON WIRELESS MESSAGING and VERIZON WIRELESS PICTURE MESSAGING:
VERIZON WIRELESS PICTURE MESSAGING:
PIX MESSAGING:
Picture messaging is a revolutionary service provided by mobile service providers which has the capability to revolutionize communication framework in the society. Picture can incorporate text, still color images and sound, all in the same message. Also, this facility can be used to customize caller id to show the picture of the person who is calling as well as customize background picture of the display screen in the mobile phone.
Picture messaging in VERIZON is a part of the GET PIX package. Once you are subscribed to this package, you can convert all those impulsive and spontaneous moments into ever-lasting memories which can be cherished forever and shared with family and friends immediately.
The only requirement for this service is a camera phone to capture any picture that catches your fancy whether it is your daughter’s first steps or a surprise party that your colleagues throw for you.
Once a picture is captured and you need to send it across to someone, you can add text and sound to the image to make it a picture message. Also, if you are of the ‘busy’ variety and find it exciting to associate incoming calls to have pictures associated with them, this service will help you put an image corresponding to a number in your phonebook.
Also this service can be used to create wallpapers for the screen of your mobile handset.
Picture messages can be received in two methods. Users who have this verizon service enabled in their camera phones can view it immediately but the other VERIZON customers can access the images online about which they are notified through a text message.
FLIX MESSAGING:
Video messaging is the service which allows a user to send upto 1000 characters of text or upto 15 seconds of a video clip online to other compatible VERIZON wireless mobile handsets.
The basic requirement for a video messaging service is a video message compatible phone and a digital calling plan (which unfortunately not available for pre-paid users currently!). Once both these are acquired, video messaging can be activated on the phone.
To record a video on a Verizon Wireless Cell Phone, follow the phone’s instructions to capture video and you can send upto 15 seconds of video if you are in the National coverage area, you can send or receive videos but if you are not, then you need to wait till you are in the coverage area.
Once in the coverage area, the recorded video can be sent from the FLIX gallery in the VERIZON wireless phone. The video can be sent to a maximum of 10 email addresses. You can also add any customized text along with the video before sending the video message.
Once sent, the video message can be viewed in any video-compatible phones which have QuickTime player (6.5 version or higher).
VERIZON WIRELESS INSTANT MESSAGING:
VERIZON Instant Messaging is a service that helps a user remain connected to the messaging services of AOL, Yahoo or MSN on the mobile phone. So it is a service that helps people remain in contact with their near and dear ones on the go.
Instant messages can be sent or received in three different ways:
Mobile Instant Messaging: which lets a user access all the three Instant Messaging service providers - AOL, Yahoo and MSN – from a compatible mobile phone. There is an instant messaging client which is required to perform this function. This application needs to be downloaded on to some Verizon Phones whereas it is pre-existing in certain models of VERIZON Wireless phones.
IM Forwarding: This service helps a user forward all his/her Instant messages from the PC to the mobile handset.
PC to Mobile Instant Messaging: This service allows a user to send Instant messages from AOL, Yahoo and MSN on their computers to VERIZON IM-enabled handsets using their mobile numbers.
Instant messaging can happen in real time with friends and family by using the recipient’s user name which is displayed on the screen against a corresponding person. So people on IM sites like AOL, Yahoo or MSN are indicated by whether they are available to chat, busy or offline. So the exact experience of a real-time chat which was earlier restricted to a PC can be now recreated with a VERIZON wireless IM-compatible mobile phone. A comprehensive demo is available on the VERIZON wireless website.
Monthly access fees for messaging packages start from $5.00 to $20.00 per month and a 10c for sending a message. All packages come with a monthly allowance of messages as well. Some of the plans mention Unlimited Messaging which are strictly restricted to ten-digit numbers of VERIZON wireless phones only. The monthly allowance which starts from 250 to 2500 again include all kinds of messaging whether it is Instant Messages, Text, Emails or PIX and FLIX messages.
PS: If not subscribed to a digital calling plan with unlimited data usage, the user will be charged as per voice airtime as well per KB of data downloaded
VERIZON WIRELESS TEXT MESSAGING:
Text (TXT) Messaging is a simple and affordable way to stay in touch with family, friends and professional partners by sending:
Text messages to other mobile phones
Text messages through an e-mail
Text messages from a computer, etc
Text messaging can vary from sharing a simple Hi! In the morning to conveying important information to passing on a great joke that you just heard/read.
Text messaging can even be used to send International messages across other countries with compatible services. Logon to vtext.com to check where TXT International is operational. Some of the popular countries which are participating associate network are Canada, England, Ireland, Philippines and Mexico.
TXT messages can even be sent and received between a mobile handset and an email id on the computer. The emails can be sent to: Your 10-digit mobile number@vtext.com or yournickname@vtext.com. This nickname can be acquired by selecting the ‘personalization’ menu on the vtext.com registered user webpage.
Text messaging is even possible from the PC to any VERIZON wireless handset. These messages can be sent through the website www.vtext.com. Once registered on this website, messaging is really easy to any mobile phone from the PC.
There are even TXT messaging communities which exist to help connect people with common interests to discuss and receive updates on their subjects of interests. Topics may be as varied as “Ocean’s eleven” to Beyonce to Automobiles. There is even a facility to create and modify SMS webpages of one’s own. Also there can be a high degree of control over messages that arise from a particular tag or domain name. The FIND-A-CHANNEL facility allows access to more than 30 branded channels.
Several personalizations are also possible with the TXT messaging services like creating a user-defined nickname@vtext.com, customized TXT messages, Blocking unwanted messages, Scheduling personal reminders and more.
The basic difference between text messaging and Instant messaging is that Text messaging is only between two cell phones with 10-digit mobile numbers whereas Instant messaging is the convergence of the mobile phone with the PC and allows mobile numbers to talk to Instant messaging recipients. So it also helps users to see who is busy, offline or any other corresponding status.
VERIZONE WIRELESS EMAIL APPLICATION:
Checking and replying to e-mails on the go is now a reality due to Mobile Web 2.0 service as a part of the VERIZON WIRELESS SERVICES.
This service helps you check, read and reply to emails right from the comfort of your VERIZONE wireless mobile handset. Also, the entire email address book can be accessed directly from the phone and message alerts can be set up in the form of alarms whenever a new email message is received on the phone. The list of phones compatible with Mobile Web 2.0 is put up on the VERIZONE website and the service is currently offered by MSN Hotmail and AOL Mail.
The Mobile Web 2.0 can be easily set up on a compatible mobile phone by just launching the corresponding web browser on the phone. The first time, as a part of the signing up process, it is required to subscribe to the service and accept the terms and conditions. Once this is done, a Mobile Web 2.0 associate site (details available on the VERIZONE website) will help you create a username and password.
Once created, then it is almost like a browser on a PC and can be used for a variety of applications like creating bookmarks, creating user profiles and accessing a lot of subscription-based content from the websites. Also the phone is now ready to start off on all the features of an email service on the PC. The VERIZON GET IT NOW phones which are enabled to handle a lot of internet content on the phone can be used to download a lot of interesting applications of the phone too.
